Beefy Turkey Patty Melt

Ingredients

Beefy Turkey Patty Melt

1 TBS. Garlic Powder (⅕ shot Glass)
½ TBS. White Pepper (1/10 shot glass)
4 TBS. Worcestershire Sauce ( ⅔ shot glass)
2 TBS. Steak Sauce (⅙ shot glass)
20 oz Ground Lean Turkey
5 Strips of Turkey Bacon cut in halves
2 White Onions
1 stick of butter
     ¼ Cup of Butter for caramelizing onions (½ stick), ¼ cup for brushing bread
Swiss Cheese
10 slices of Rye Bread
Salt to Taste
Pepper To Taste

Utensils
Griddle or Frying Pan
Brush
Turner
Measuring Cup or Fewdstar Measuring Shooter

Dipping Sauce

Ketchup
Mayo
Dill Pickles or Relish

Sweet Potato Home Fries
3 Sweet Potatoes
Salt and Pepper to Taste
Olive Oil


Directions

  1. Slice two white onions into crescent-shaped slices
  2. Place butter into pan and melt on medium high heat
  3. Add onions to pan
  4. Cover onions in butter and lightly sprinkle salt
  5. Lower heat to medium and let onions simmer for 35-40 minutes, stirring frequently until brown.
  6. Blend turkey, garlic powder, white pepper, worcestershire sauce, steak sauce in a large mixing bowl
  7. Sprinkle salt and pepper over turkey mixture
  8. Roll turkey and seasoning mixture into 5 balls and let rest for 10 minutes.
  9. Add bacon strip halves to griddle or frying pan. Fry on each side for 5-6 minutes
  10. Remove bacon from griddle or pan and add Turkey balls
  11. Flatten balls into patties using a turner.
  12. Cook Patties for 5-6 minutes on each side.
  13. Remove patties and let rest for 5-6 minutes
  14. Using the remaining butter, coat one side of 5 slices bread for each melt and place on griddle or pan on low heat.
  15. Assemble melts by placing patties, bacon, and caramelized onions on top of buttered bread.
  16. Coat one side of the remaining 5 slices of bread for each melt and place on top of assembled melts.
  17. As cheese melts, compress melts to make cheese melt to top layer of bread
  18. Flip melts on side and compress again with turner
  19. Let cheese completely melt and remove from heat

Sweet Potato Fries

  1. Slice sweet potatoes into thin slices
  2. Coat frying pan with olive oil
  3. Let oil heat for 1-2 minutes
  4. Add sliced potatoes and let simmer for 12-14 minutes, tossing frequently
  5. Remove from heat and place on plate lined with a paper towel.

Thousand Island-Ish Dipping Sauce

  1. ½ cup Mayonaisse
  2. 3 TBS. Ketchup
  3. 2 Dill Pickle Spears, chopped or 3 TBS. Sweet Pickle Relish
  4. Salt to taste ​
